It's a great game - my favorite from R* since Vice City... very possibly my favorite ever. Illidan owns it for Playstation 3. I - and almost everyone else I know - own it for Xbox 360.

Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare DLC preview
http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/10/530rdrundeadnightmare032.jpg
The upcoming Undead Nightmare expansion for Red Dead Redemption is both a rather difficult and easy concept to grasp. On the one hand, it's hard to understand how or why this zombie plague is striking the American Wild West. (Rockstar still wouldn't talk about story details.) On the other hand, it's an easy excuse to introduce new enemy types into Rockstar's open world. Undead Nightmare adds a lot of things to shoot at, and looks to be a meaty extension of the game's single-player experience for a rather reasonable $10 price.
Perhaps as an admission of its incompatibility with the canon of the world, Undead Nightmare is a standalone experience that takes place between the end of Marston's quest to find his family, and the game's final battle. Nothing is carried over from the main game, with the exception of any new weapons unlocked by the game's other DLC. The goal of this quest is to rid the country of a zombie infestation, a journey that will take a player anywhere from 5-12 hours, depending on their skill and propensity to complete side quests. Rockstar wouldn't reveal exactly how much of the map would be infected, but they did tease that a new area would be added to the world via this expansion.
The cure to the undead plague appears to be rather simple. At cemeteries, there will be a collection of coffins you'll have to burn. Of course, this is easier said than done. Burning one coffin will trigger a massive influx of enemies, as they rise from the ground. As you burn the coffins and fight the swarm, you'll eventually encounter a boss zombie. Take him down, and you'll rid the area of the zombie menace, clearing the skies in the immediate vicinity whilst lowering the frequency of random "ambient" zombie attacks.
Zombies will take a considerable amount of damage, but a clean shot to the head will take them down. Precise targeting is definitely a must for this mode, and frequent use of the Dead Eye is necessary to survive the horde. Because the undead don't (usually) carry around guns, ammo becomes a greater concern in the DLC, as you'll find yourself switching between weapons, desperately trying to find a weapon that can fight the zombies off.
For some, the experience will be thrilling. It's not often Marston has to take on so many enemies at once; however, others will find the (understandably) stupid AI of the zombies to make for less-than-inspired fights. There are a variety of zombies -- some will charge at you quickly, while others will shoot projectile vomit -- but for the most part, circle strafing and running away seem to be effective strategies. These battles go on for quite a long time, and the lack of checkpoints mid-battle can make the experience repetitive and tiring.
But in typical Rockstar fashion, these enemy encounters are but a small part of a much greater experience. While fighting undead humans can get tiring, when was the last time you got to fight a zombie bear? Have you ever ridden a zombie horse? In Undead Nightmare, you can, and the brain-eating variety controls a bit differently than the hay-eating kind. Finally, there will be some kind of multiplayer component to the DLC, although Rockstar was quiet on what that would entail.
Even after playing Undead Nightmare, the entire concept comes off as a big gimmick. But, at least it's shaping up to be a gimmick packed with a lot of value. Red Dead Redemption fans can look forward to it "very soon."

Rockstar Games revealed yesterday that the zombie-fueled Undead Nightmare downloadable content pack will be unleashed upon the world of Red Dead Redemption (http://g4tv.com/games/ps3/31337/red-dead-redemption/index/) on October 26 (http://g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/708064/Red-Dead-Redemption-Undead-Nightmare-Pack-Dated.html). And just when I thought I couldn't want the damn thing more, Rockstar goes ahead and releases new info and screens for four new playable mounts coming with the DLC: the aptly titled Four Horses of the Apocalypse.
Each mythical horse possess a unique ability that spells bad news for anyone unlucky enough to cross their paths.
Death: With Hell following close behind, Death carries with him a violent wake that rattles through the skulls of the undead, causing a spectacular cranial explosion for any zombie it comes in contact with.
Famine: Attracting a swarm of insects wherever it travels, Famine's thin shadowy frame and crimson eyes mask an everlasting stamina.
Pestilence: A ghastly harbinger of plague and disease that's easily identifiable by its exposed wounds and ocular hemorrhaging, Pestilence possesses an exceptionally high pain threshold.
War: Given power to take peace from the earth, the fiery red horse known as War ignites a trail of flame upon all those in its path, turning the living and the undead alike into smoldering ash.
And here are these devilish delights in all their apocalyptic glory:

All of the horses look spectacular, but the idea of being able to cause zombie heads to explode simply by running by them is so ridiculously brilliant I can't take it. If I were a zombie, I'm pretty sure the contents of my head would currently be decorating my cubicle.

UPDATED 12:30pm: Rockstar has revealed a slew of new details about the Undead Nightmare pack. In addition to new weapons like the Blunderbuss and torch, the pack will include new challenges, quests, ambient events, and Missing Persons missions that will have you rescuing survivors before they become zombie food. On the multiplayer side, there will be new Free Roam content and a new horde mode-ish mode called Undead Overrun where players will have to hold off waves of zombies as long as possible (I'm guessing zombie animals will make appearances during these attacks as well). If you haven't picked up any of the previous Red Dead Redemption DLC, and you like things in convenient packages, you'll want to check out the forthcoming Undead Nightmare disc, which will include the upcoming zombie pack, the Outlaws to the End Co-Op Mission Pack, the Legends and Killers Pack, the Liars and Cheats Pack, and all the multiplayer Free Roam modes that have been released. Similar to Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City, the $30 standalone collection will be playable without a copy of Redemption. The Undead Nightmare pack will cost $9.99/800 Microsoft Points.
Original story follows:
Rockstar Games confirmed today what many Red Dead Redemption fans have been speculating: the Undead Nightmare downloadable pack for the hit western title will be available on October 26, just in time for some quality Halloween-themed Old West zombie slaying.
Undead Nightmare features a new single-player story arc in which John Marston must attempt to cleanse the land of its new undead inhabitants, and will introduce a host of new content including new weapons, gameplay features, zombie animals, new multiplayer modes, and more, most of which Rockstar has yet to detail, but I'd expect that to change over the coming week or so.

This makes me sad, I finished the game and enjoyed free roam mode with friends but then they all sold it and I got tired of joining games full of idiots.
I might try and pick up a pre owned copy just for the undead DLC.
