Also do not attack a chicken in the first town. I did and the person who says you can stay in her house and take whatever, etc. went batshit crazy attacking me until I swam across the river. This wandering NPC helped me out on a fight, but my fire spell accidentally hit him and so he started attacking me too - everyone's too sensitive in Skyrim.

I love this game, though.

Anyone else prefer playing in third person? I'm liking it a lot better thus far.

Mammoths and Giants are fucking scary.

I was going up to try and fight one, I hit F5 Quicksave, and then started getting some sneak attacks with my bow(about 34 archery and 30 sneak) and after like 7 attacks I got it to half health. I was thinking, "sure, he's not THAT hard". This was followed by me getting 1 shotted and flying into a tree.

Picked my copy up this afternoon. Been playing. It's taking me a while to get back into the 'feel' of TES - I got used to stuff like Fallout 3 / New Vegas. Trying to channel my Morrowind / Oblivion days lol.

That, plus I played it for four hours before it was unlocked. I have a level 14 Thief but a few quests bugged so I remade a character. I'm currently a level 19 High Elf mage, 71 destruction. Finished the Mages and the Thieves Guild. This game is fucking amazing. GOTY for sure. I'm pissed off that Skyword Sword got a higher rating that this game. Maybe it's cause I just don't like Zelda at all. But anyways. The thing I like so far, is how many big and in-depth quest-lines there are that aren't "Guild Quest-lines". I've found a lot of random side-quests that have taken me hours to beat. Surprisingly long for side-quests. Way more than Oblivion side quests for sure.

I have played Windwaker, Minish Cap, and Majora's Mask and I didn't really enjoy or like them. Twilight Princess doesn't justify the purchase of a Wii IMO.

The wife was actually out of town, so I ended up standing in line for about 20 minutes to get a copy during the midnight launch.

She seems pretty happy with it. The graphics (360) are improved some, though the menu system seems more clunky than ever.

I've taken a look at some of the videos "showing off" Skyrim, and I gotta say I'm unimpressed. Looks just as buggy as Oblivion before it, with a minor graphical upgrade.

I actually tried to play unarmed on launch day. Made a Khajit for the bonus and figured light armor would be a natural choice.

Woops, there's no unarmed skill anymore.

Double woops, turns out heavy armor has an unarmed damage perk.

Triple woops, there's only one enchantment for unarmed damage.

Ultra woops, unarmed damage is capped really low.

Deleted immediately and tried a more sane build so I could enjoy the game. I'm a bit disappointed they took out unarmed. It wasn't very good in Oblivion, but Fallout 3 and NV's unarmed were actually quite viable, so I figured bethesda might have learned something from that and put it in the new game.

There's always mods.
