President Obama has officially filed the paperwork for his 2012 reelection bid, as you may have been notified by email, text, tweet, second email, carrier pigeon, secret government brainwave transmission, and so on. The announcements comes with this video of campaign supporters urging you to begin constant grassroots organizing efforts, immediately. The campaign website asks "Are you in?" and urges you to "Get In with Facebook."

The president is also demanding one billion dollars. Apparently that's how much it costs to prove to the American people that you're better than Mike Huckabee. You can make out your check to that new campaign manager who hates liberal activists.

Over 1 billion dollars seems a little excessive.

Moved my other post to OT because of lack of seriousness.

Yeah, gotta love the timing of this, though. Pretty much the same 24 hours as the announcement that the 9/11 conspirators are being tried by a military tribunal... most likely in Gitmo, no less.

I didn't watch the video, so maybe I missed it, but I don't see where he "demanded" $1 billion. As far as I can tell, the $1 billion number seems to be based on the claim that his campaign raised $745 million for the '08 election and the presumption that with such an early start, they should be able to crack that number this time around.

Frankly, I didn't know that his campaign had raised that much in '08. That is a staggering amount of cash. Who was it that was worried about repeal of McCain/Feingold again? In any event, if the economy finally begins to show real signs of life (ie, jobs) and the GOP is unable to produce a clear and credible candidate, then they may not need to raise nearly as much this time around. If the economy remains stagnant and the GOP can avoid a Palin/Bachmann ticket, then Obama might just need that billion dollars.

I'm curious to see if starting this early winds up backfiring on him. The GOP will no doubt start firing at him right from the start, and without a clear slate of potential candidates, the Obama campaign won't have an obvious target for their return fire. And does he really want to give the impression that, during a pretty hectic and potentially scary period (Middle East, Libya, Japan, etc) he is more interested in campaigning for a second term and less interested in actually doing the job he's campaigning for?

Left to his own devices, Barack Obama couldn't launch a beer fart in a whirlwind. It would be more accurate to say his handlers launched his re-election bid.

Anything that takes a billion dollars in marketing in order to get people to accept it for FREE isn't worth a bucket of warm spit, either.

And yes, I'm serious.

This is probably going to be the only president in US history to lose two wars simultaneously. & the only reason it won't be three is that it would take more talent than he has to wreck Iraq's chances of successful conclusion at this point.

This is the worst post of all time. Iraq is pretty much a done deal at this point and is overall a success. After Bush departed from the original strategy in Afghanistan that was successful, Obama fucked around for a while before returning to that strategy. You're basically making this shit up. "losing" war my ass.

Thanks for the warning, before I read further.

That was my point - - even Obama isn't able to fuck it up at this point.

Have you considered a reading comprehension course? I understand they make them with cartoon animals now.

After Bush departed from the original strategy in Afghanistan that was successful, Obama fucked around for a while before returning to that strategy.

...and will probably abandon it for no apparent reason, like he has every other strategy he claims to have adopted. Deadline for departure of troops in 3, 2, 1...

You're basically making this shit up. "losing" war my ass.

You were right, this was arguably the worst post ever. Not only did you mis-read everything you were supposedly rebutting in my post, but you didn't even address the thread topic.

Well, that didn't last long.

Next time I'll have to do him left handed, like Inigo Montoya.
