Anybody ever get a look at those? Like the Slender man or other such things?

My personal favorite is the story of the haunted Majora's Mask cartridge.

TVtropes will kindly explain that:

And of course, Creepypastas:

I actually went to www.creepypasta.com a while back, and enjoyed reading through so many times I tried composing a few.

...They are REALLY harsh critics, and they don't pull punches for newbies. You know what they say, though- can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. I submitted again and again, I improved over time, and finally got one was wasn't utterly shite. It wasn't very scary, but most people reportedly found it entertaining, if nothing else.

You can find it here (http://www.creepypasta.com/the-art-of-jacob-emory/#comments) and the website to their forums here. (http://www.creepypasta.com/forums//index.php) Most people don't go farther than the main site, which is a shame because the forums contain a couple of gems which are genuinely amazingly terrifying.

P.S. I really can't emphasize enough how harsh they are as critics. If you suck, you WILL know it. I simply looked through it to find what styles and ideas were good and bad, but it's not a place for fragile egos.

So creepypasta.com is officially dead. :<

The only site I can find for creepypasta now is microhorror.com, which has a 666 word limit and a ton of... well, just not very good authors.

I was perusing their site, looking through their unimpressive stores, and was surprised to find this little gem.

Seafood
The waves gnaw at the shore and slaver over my feet as I follow the beach. At the end of the sand crescent, the shipwreck squats, bleached bone grey. I clamber over the splintered gunwale. Despite the ocean’s proximity, the cabin is warm and dry. It smells of dust and ancient leather.

A corpse slumps over scattered bones. The corpse’s skin is tight, papery as an onion’s. The bones are gnawed, emptied of marrow.

Turning from the funereal tableau, I find the ship’s manifest. Its brittle pages list no livestock, no meat stores, and a crew of eight.

Come on, people, let's not let this die, please?

I need to check out things there more often, I've only seen bits and pieces from the short stories, creepy though they are. What're some good ones? I would like to see the original Slender man one if it can be found amongst the spinoffs

Because IT'S OCTOBER AGAIN. :D

Breath
Whenever you breath, you exhale a little bit of your soul. Normally, you inhale quick enough to get it back. Ever fog up a mirror with your breath?

Don't do that.

Portal Purgatory
So, has anyone thought about how Portal is a giant allusion to Purgatory?
There is (seemingly) no reason to be putting Chell through these horrible experiments - it's for GLaDOS' sadistic pleasure.

But what if it's REALLY a test?

Not a scientific test, but a test of character and determination as to redeem oneself? Perhaps GLaDOS' taunts of, "All your other friends couldn't come either because you don't have any other friends because of how unlikable you are. It says so right in your personnel file: 'Unlikable. Liked by no one. A bitter, unlikable loner whose passing shall not be mourned...' It says you were adopted. So that's funny too," isn't just pointless mocking but a reminder of Chell's former life?

It's also heavily implied that GLaDOS could possibly be a much more knowing being as some kind of tester for Purgatory. Quotes like, "Speaking of curiosity, you're curious about what happens after you die, right? Guess what? I know."

Quotes like this have a much more significant meaning when thought of in this context.

"I feel sorry for you, really. Because you're not even in the right place."

"This is your fault. It didn't have to be like this."

"You're not a good person, you know that, right? Good people don't end up here."
