May 3 2011 (http://pc.ign.com/articles/114/1145316p1.html) unless it gets delayed.

The once unthinkable will soon be upon us. Duke Nukem Forever has been dated and it'll be hitting stores after 13 arduous years on May 3 in the US before going global on May 6.

First announced by 3D Realms in 1997, Duke Nukem Forever threatened to become one of the more infamous pieces of vapourware before Gearbox stepped in late last year to take over the reins and help see the game through to completion.

"The moment fans all over the world have been waiting for is almost here," 2K president Christoph Hartmann told Game Informer, "May 3, 2011 marks Duke's return as he unleashes his brash and brutally honest wit on the world. His return is going to be epic and one that will make video gaming history!"

Gearbox's Randy Pitchford took us through his involvement with Duke Nukem Forever back in October, and we did the unthinkable and went hands-on with it last year.

It looks like a game made solely for nostalgia, but I guess we'll see when it comes out.

Yeah. I want to say something like "Duke Nukem really wasn't about the graphics" but those graphics look so dated that it looks as if they forgot to update the graphics engine from 1997.

I dunno, I'll probably get it just for nostalgia's sake, because Duke Nukem 3D was so much fun way back in 1976 or whenever it was that I played it. But I don't think it can ever live up to the previous game or to 12/13 years of waiting for a sequel (although to be honest, were people REALLY waiting on a sequel to Duke Nukem? Really???).

I seem to recall hearing this several times before...

This game will obviously fall short on the graphics department, but hey. We've got to congratulate Gearbox for accomplishing this daunting task. Hopefully the gameplay will live up to the hype.

And I'm hoping there are dead pop culture icons like in Duke Nukem 3D and Duke says a funny one liner related to the character once he finds it. That's my only wish.

Are you actually "waiting " for something if it doesn't even exist yet?

Meh, maybe I'll buy it, if they don't try to charge a frakking mint for it. Loved the original, because it was original... the cliche's have gotten tired over the years, though.
