This forum is not intended for use by individuals incapable of understanding the guidelines. While some may find certain aspects debatable, in the end it comes down to what the staff finds to be right and what the staff finds to be wrong. If you feel that the Serious Discussion guidelines have been breached, feel free to contact a mod via the Report Post icon and the mods will look into the situation at hand. Note: Looking into an issue does not mean things will be changed in your favor. Your view of the rules and the infraction may be distorted, and whining and crying will not influence the final decision.

There has been more than one person asking, "What is SD?" SD is Serious Discussion. Serious Discussion is, by its very nature, a debate between intelligent individuals concerning their points of view on the topic concerned. This means that if you choose to involve yourself in a thread by posting your opinion, you are expected to back your opinion with sound reasoning and solid data. If you cannot do this, the Serious Discussion forum is not for you. There is no gray area in this description, and mods will not listen to pleas made out of naivety.

Personal attacks of a serious nature will not be tolerated. This means you may absolutely not call another member any overtly abrasive names. However, we are adults and are expected to act as such. I, like most others of a studious nature, abhor dramatics among those who wander into areas they never should have been in. If someone calls you a dummy poo poo head, pull up your big boy pants and move on with your life. Mods should not have to be contacted about such things.

Trolling (the posting of inflammatory statements for the purpose of starting trouble or gaining dissent) is not permitted. It will be surmised that one will know if a post is considered trolling. Posts that exhibit trolling-like statements are subject to immediate expurgation.

Welcome to the Serious Discussion forum, and may your visit be a productive one.
